Hola Global Travelers of ECPI,
The Study Abroad program is alive and well at ECPI University. Our students have visited more than a dozen countries in the last 10 years. In 2013 we are heading to our 5th of 6 inhabitable continents. We are traveling to Costa Rica in October. This is a very different trip than those we have taken in the past. For a look at the day by day itinerary, please click on www.explorica.com/Corillo-4352.
This is also the site to sign up for the trip. It is an 8 day adventure that includes taking a zip line through the rain forest, riding horseback to waterfalls, kayaking on Lake Arenal, visiting a volcano and the hot springs it feeds, river rafting and more.
The total cost is $2,826. and includes airfare from Norfolk, Virginia, hotel (double room), 3 meals a day, travel insurance and all associated costs for itinerary items. The only extra costs for the traveler are gifts and souvenirs purchased.
You must have a passport and it can take up to three months to secure one. There is a lot of walking involved in our trips, so you will need a good pair of walking shoes.
The cost to hold your spot on the roster is $243 which covers the $99.00 non-refundable deposit and the mandatory insurance package. The Virginia Beach campus offers a 3 credit course in coordination with the journey, COM205 Culture and Diversity. This will run during Term 8 starting on September 30, 2013. We leave for Costa Rica on Monday, October 14, 2013. The course can be run through V-COM for students at other campuses.
Payments can be arranged monthly through our travel partner, Explorica, on the same website used to sign up. Financial aid is available to students who qualify. The GI Bill will cover the tuition for the course, but will not cover the cost of the trip.
Spouses, parents, and friends of students are welcome to join them on the journey at the same group rate for the student.
Please read the website carefully at www.explorica.com/Corillo-4352 and it will answer most questions. For other questions, please contact the faculty advisor for the Study Abroad program, Dr. Glenn Corillo on the Virginia Beach campus, at gcorillo@ecpi.edu or 757 671-7171 ext. 55225.
There is a limit to the number of students we can take, so, if you are interested, please sign up early.
Best regards,
Dr. Corillo
